baltic audio - How to make a Reese Bass for Slap House in Serum - Sound Design Tutorial

Step by step instruction:

STEP #1

  • - Use the default waveform for OSC A
  • - Add some voices for this OSC
  • - Put the OSC two octaves lower

STEP #2

  • - Activate filter MG Low 12 for OSC A and reduce the cutoff a little
  • - Extend the decay and reduce the sustain of envelope 2 to about 40%
  • - Connect envelope 2 with the cutoff filter (drag)
  • - Reduce the cutoff range

STEP #3

  • - Add distortion in the FX tab and set the filter type on highpass
  • - Drive can be increased to about 75%
  • - Add EQ and set the low EQ type on LPF
  • - Add reverb and drag this FX behind the EQ. Use the default settings.

STEP #4

  • - Set the voicing to mono and activate the legato mode
  • - Increase the portamento level to get glide-effects playing two notes in legato
  • - Add sub OSC for more thickness and connect it with the cutoff filter

STEP #5

  • - Now feel free to play around with your settings
  • - For example try to use other waveforms for different sounds.

THAT'S IT!
